Fossil

fos·sil (fŏs'əl)

- A remnant or trace of an organism of a past geologic age, such as a skeleton or leaf imprint, embedded and preserved in the earth's crust.

- the remains (or an impression) of a plant or animal that existed in a past geological age and that has been excavated from the soil

- The remains or imprint of an organism from a previous geologic time. A fossil can consist of the preserved tissues of an organism, as when encased in amber, ice, or pitch, or more commonly of the hardened relic of such tissues, as when organic matter is replaced by dissolved minerals. Hardened fossils are often found in layers of sedimentary rock and along the beds of rivers that flow through them.

- to lithify, to fossilize, petrifize.

 Thanks to Marlene
This is a Polaroid
In the background you can see the sea.

Still struggling with a name, this title serves as a "placeholder".
This series thankfully exceeds my personal vocabulary.

My associations contain the human being as part of nature, of landscapes, of a gigantic incomprehensible universe, as a pathetically tiny element of nothingness, of unimportance, or of blending in with the rest, as soon as you "zoom out" and look at us in context. It also reminds me of hibernating, resting, being, fading, decaying.
You get some of these feelings when deep diving, as well as when looking at the stars without distraction. Few good movies and few music does this..
All is on my list to be further explored.

nine inch nails is industrial-rock band. they have a video called "we are in this together" and a landscape in your photo resembles to one in that vodeo

Very moving, sometimes for a title I find it best that usually one word says it all. In this case Fossil would have been a very good title, because it takes on so many different intrepertations of the photo. Just thought I'd say that! :D

I love how her body looks like it is hunched over another larger *fossilised* looking body. really emphasises your concept. Oh man, I could possibly go on for ever, but what really thrills me (this is going to sound nerdy) is that it would've been so exciting to be able to see the final masterpiece in a matter of seconds since it was a polaroid! What type of film was this? It is perfect for this photo

Perfect. I haven't got anything else to say. Except that in my humble opinion a small black frame would be better. But hey, that's just a tiny trifle. Nothing to bother about. :+favlove:
